Nearby, the beaches of Lotos and Delphini offer a more relaxed alternative to the bustling village life of Kini.

Cuisine
Syros is a foodie's paradise with a unique twist on cooking that really makes the most of local goodies. You've got to try the famous P.D.O. cheese San Michali, the tasty Marathies sausage with pork and fennel, and Louza, which is a special dry-cured ham. Don't forget the thyme honey, which is considered of the best in Greece. Other cool goods are caper buds, sun-dried fish and rock samphire, a wild green that grows on the cliffs. But the real showstopper is Loukoumi, a sweet treat made with sugar, water, starch, aromas, and nuts, all dusted with powdered sugar. And if you've got a sweet tooth, check out Chalvadopites, Pastelaries, and Mastichaki for some seriously delicious desserts.
